The Brain The signals from the eye are sent to the brain. The brain breaks up the visual world into various aspects, such as color, form, motion, and depth.
The Visual Cortex The visual cortex is in the back of the head. The visual cortex is where you see.
The pupil is the dark part of the eye. The colored part of the eye is the iris. A clear, tough layer called the cornea protects the pupil.
Eyes are amazing things. • Our eyelid is like a windshield on a car, it cleans your eyeball when you blink. • When it is dark the eye opens wider to let more light in. When it is light the eye protects itself by only letting a little light in. • Eye lets you see millions of colors. • Eye lets you see close and far away. • In fact almost everything you learn is by seeing.

The nose is actually the girl’s face • The eyes of the old man are the hair for the boy and girl • The beard is the dress for the girl on the right and the clothes for • The boy on the left.
Neurons "Neuron" is a general term for a nerve cell. They carry information to and from the brain
Optic Nerve The optic nerve (like all nerves) transmits electrical impulses. It sends the impulses from the retina to the brain. It connects to the back of the eye near the macula.
The Brain tells us what we see. When a human looks at a number, letter or other shape, the neurons in the brain's visual center respond to different parts of that shape, almost immediately fitting them together like a puzzle to create an image that the individual then "sees" and understands.
Vision is affected by the brain The visual system is often adversely affected when the brain is injured by trauma (e.g. auto accidents), stroke, or brain tumors. Since eighty percent of the information we receive about our environment is from the visual system, vision problems significantly impair a patient's functioning.
