MEC1012 Spring’04 Assignment 1 Part A Due during class Week 3 Design Comm RallyReview of Design Communication I • Similar to Assignment 8 from last semester, Part A of this assignment will involve creating a full set of working drawings for an assembly of parts. Completion of Part A is a prerequisite of Part B, Electronic Notebooks (web authoring). Each student must complete Assignment 1 Part A in order to get a passing grade in MEC 1012 Spring ’04. • As always start by creating your project (.ipj). Eventually, we will move to a web served drive, but for now start your project on the Q: drive under MEC/1012_Spr_04/CADD/Assignment 1/TXA • Draw a freehand iso concept sketch of an assembly of parts. Include a title, date, name and explanatory notes. • Using the default template, create; several parts and assemble them. (.iam & .ipt) MODEL THESE PARTS CONSISTANT WITH THE MIDTERM DESIGN GUIDE from Design Communication I. • Explode the assembly in the isometric view (.ipn), including all appropriate trails. • Using the default template, create a drawing file (.idw). Create the view from your .ipn. Include balloons and a parts list. • Create fully dimensioned working drawings of each part (.idw). Add center marks & center lines as appropriate. Use dimension styles based on the midterm design guide. Consider a two-place style as the default and use the design guide for exceptions. All drawing dimensions must match model dimensions (no rounding). Fully tolerance each drawing (consider using a tolerance block). Include an ANSI title block and border. • Print out your drawings (1:1) and turn them in for inspection. All packages must pass inspection (zero errors) before Part A is deemed complete. • All packages completed before the end or your lab in week 1 will be judged for quality. The best packages will be proudly displayed.
