Continua Health Alliance History • Continua is a non-profit open industry alliance of healthcare and IT companies dedicated to advancing the state of the art of personal telehealth: • “Fostering independence through establishing a system of interoperable personal telehealth solutions that empower people and organizations to better manage health and wellness.” • Continua selects and drives standards to achieve this mission in three domains • Disease Management • Elderly Monitoring • Health & Wellness • Depth and Breadth • IBM joined when Continua first went public (6/2006) • Consisted of around 20 members (device founders) • Has grown to > 150 members (covering spectrum of healthcare solutions) • > 40 members are promoter level ($35k/yr) • Members cover entire spectrum of everything to do with personal healthcare in any capacity including all backend services, collaboration, etc.
