Corridor Manchester • Corridor Manchester is the first partnership of its kind in the UK • Members include; UoM, MMU, MCC, CMFT, msp, Arup, Cornerhouse and Bruntwood • By 2020 studies say the Corridor will generate £4.7 billion GVA and have a workforce of 77,000 • The Corridor will be a place of quality employment, skills training and education at all levels

  2. Corridor Manchester • Over 70,000 students • 55,000 workforce (18% of cities workforce) • Generates £2.8 billion (22.5% of cities GVA) • 43% of the activity is in knowledge-intensive sectors [c.f. National (22%) and Regional (21%)]

  3. Corridor Manchester • Integrated Transport Plan to be implemented. • Cross City Bus Package to go ahead • Only buses and bicycles on Oxford Road • Oxford Road Station to be redeveloped

  4. Specification • 95,000 sq ft • Wet laboratories • Specialised research facilities for clinical trials and evaluations • Hub space to encourage interaction • Break out areas and meeting rooms • Offices • Cafe

  5. Programme • October 2012 – Start demolition • December 2012 - Commence construction • December 2013 – Practical completion
