Privacy Concerns • 80% of Americans say they are concerned about their consumer privacy. • Only one in six are acting on their concerns, buying products to avoid identity theft, checking their credit report or surfing and shopping online anonymously. • If you are under 25 or over 65 you are not as concerned about privacy as are others.
Top Privacy Issues in 2011 • 1. Privacy and confidentiality of mobile devices with location based information will become a major concern for both consumers and corporations. • 2. With more people on social networks and more personal information available via those networks, the potential for exposure of that data is likely.
Smart Phones • iPhone:Keeping track of where you go and storing that information in a file that is stored unencrypted and unprotected on any machine with which you synchronize your phone. • Windows Phone 7: Are tracking and sending location data to online servers without the user’s consent. • Android: Collects GPS location, Wi-Fi hotspots the phone has encountered and the device ID.
