The children have never seen the sun, except for one occasion several years ago. Although, there is one little girl named Margot who moved from Ohio on Earth when she was four so she remembers the sun. all of the children dislike Margot for this reason because she is different from them. The scientist on Venus predicted that on the day when this story takes place, the sun will come out for an hour, and the endless raining on the planet will cease while it is out. When the time is about to come for the sun to appear, one of Margot's classmates locks her in the closet because he is jealous that she remembers the sun and he does not.
