  1. ‘HOP’ (HOT OFF the PRESS) ISSUE 1 HOPWOOD PARK’S NEW ALL SITE NEWSLETTER!!!! Welcome to Hopwood Park’s all-site Newsletter. Every month we will be bringing you the latest information on upcoming products and events in each brand / team, plus reward and recognition from across the site and an update on our fundraising for Children In Need. All the information will be coming direct from Dave Gorring (Site Director) and the team of UBM’s. So, if you have any stories to tell or anyone you wish to recognise for their hard-work, or say a kind thank you to, speak to your Manager or Focus Group so we can include it in the next issue – and don’t forget to send in a photo!   2. So who’s who on site? We’ve recently had a bit of an influx of new recruits to help us get ready for the busy Summer period ahead. Those of you who have been here a while will know that August is one of our, if not our busiest time of year. And for those who have just joined our team, we thought it might be useful to know who some of our site Management team are, just in case you need a name to refer to for a helping hand. So, we would like to welcome the following people to the Hopwood Park team: Shannen Julius, Victoria Ladd, Jane Drew, Michael Day, Rowan Sharma, Alana McBride, Sam Fellows, Daniel Hunt, Katie Nash, Laura Buchanan, Jamie Bostock, Glen Thomas, Oliver Smith, Shaun Badger, Liam Kendall, Brin Williams and Michele Hughes.

  3. WH Smith’s Well, where to start… WH Smiths has had fantastic sales over the last few weeks, with a 96% Brand Standards audit to boot! As you will all now be aware, we have a Krispy Kreme doughnut stand and for the last 3 weeks, we have sold a staggering £5773 worth… phew! Be warned, we will be chasing a prize of £1,000 for £1 bag sweet sales over the holidays, so do not expect to leave our shop without a bag or two! I would like to welcome Caroline, Lois and Micahel to our team. Michael will be with us just for the Summer. I would also like to welcome our two new Gamezone Hosts Glen and Jamie. They have already proved their worth as the Gamezone is the cleanest I have seen it. Andy is teaching them well! A BIG Thank You to everyone in WH Smiths for getting involved and making ‘Choosing Your Attitude’ such a success… the atmosphere in the shop has been great, and we have all worked really hard… but with that important element called fun! So here’s to WH Smiths working in fifth gear, having fun, and grabbing our fair share of the sales.

  4. Forecourt Well what a fantastic start to the period so far.. Sales have gone up and we have been very busy. Hopwood has the best waste figures in the North region for our forecourt. WELL DONE to the Forecourt team. Krispy Kreme has hit the Forecourt and sales are doing well. This adds to our already fantastic food corner. Watch out Eat In ….. Lol. The doughnuts are also proving a big hit for the staff as we have an incentive running called Play Your Cards Right.. The prize being 1 of our fabulous Krispy Kreme doughnuts. It’s Sopheys Birthday 25th July, which leads me nicely into thanking her for her excellent customer service in our Visit England Survey. She received a £5 gift voucher! Forecourt achieved 100% in our key control finance audit. Our new promotions starts on the 25th July Congratulations to Stewart Green who has started his Team Manager career path. Sophey collected for children in need on 23rd June and collected £118. Sam will be collecting on the 20th July and Jessica on the 21st July. Let’s see if they can beat the site achievement of £200 in a day, which was achieved by Allie from KFC.

  5. Facilities It has been along time since the last News letter, and we have lots of hard work and lots of playful things as well. The Team has become more efficient (or deficient at times) in all aspects of work with some of the job roles becoming more re- defined. Peter continues to be the Team Supervisor, but will start doing some gardening work 2 days a week shortly. Heather has taken to the Team Trainer role and is doing a super job. Her next challenge is to learn how to do the Wages and keep the ASR upto date. Attila is now the Maintenance Assistant and is doing extremely well. He will be learning the paperwork side shortly, and this will prove to be his biggest challenge to date. With the busy Summer fast approaching we have taken on 3 new starters. Katie, Dan and Laura all whom are proving to be very good. We have however lost Martyn to the Night Team, but this is a blessing in disguise, with his experience. Like any family we still have a few problems from time to time but thankfully these are getting fewer, and can normally be sorted out very quickly without to much fuss. It has been a very good start to the year. We do still have lots of very busy days ahead and we will need all the team to work extremely hard to continue pushing this Site to become once again the Best Site in the Company. On a lighter note we are still the Undefeated Bowling Champions of Hopwood and would welcome any challenges to our Crown. So come on you other units how about a game you can only LOSE!!!!!!!

  6. Eat In The 6 Weeks holiday’s are here! Incentives: We will be focusing on add on items and we are going to make a league table to see who is the best at selling! The aim of the league table is to have some competitive fun, and the persons at the top of each table at the end of a weekly basis will receive a prize!!! BreakfastUpsale items:Black pudding, Full English LunchUpsale items: Garlic Bread, Wedges Till point Upsale items: Large drinks, Pastries/Muffins NightsUpsale items: Pizza, Large drinks News This is my first summer with the Eat In team and I’m quite excited to be right in the heart of Hopwood. These following weeks are going to be busy, a lot of hard work, but most importantly: a lot of fun! We need to maintain our brand standard whilst delivering the “Welcome Break”. Lets have a massive focus on spend and deliver results. Be safe. Be welcoming. Be the break. Be profitable! Finally a big warm welcome to our new starters Michele and Shannen!

  7. KFC WOW what a fantastic start to 2012 here at KFC. Great sales converted to great profit all from a GREAT TEAM. Welcome 5 new members of our team, Ben, Sarah, Jade, Josh and Dan, All are doing really well and have slotted nicely into our little chicken family  Big Congratulations to Michaela and Ashley for moving up onto our Developing Champions Course. Their training is well underway and both are taking to their new role like chickens in a chicken shop. Our very own Rob has joined the Team Manager Training Programme and has quite a few grey hairs but is working really hard to lead our team to excellence. Well done Rob on your career movement. A Big shout out to Allie for Raising £200 on the door for children in need….Great job and the highest raised so far  Well, we are about to batten down the hatches and enter our busiest Summer ever! I hope to be reporting some fantastic records in the next issue………..WATCH THIS SPACE .

  8. Starbucks Starbucks Refresha Drinks Introducing Starbucks Refresha Drinks, Starbucks NEW way of drinking coffee. This NEW range is a delicious way of delivering thirst quenching refreshment and caffeine from green coffee extract without the coffee taste. Starbucks Refresha beverage is an exciting new core product platform launching in 16 countries. Made with real fruit juice , green coffee extract and hand shaken with ice. NEW Muffin Range Starbucks has also just re-launched the muffin range this Summer with customer approved recipes and a NEW British Raspberry and White Chocolate muffin. The improved recipes deliver a significant step change in quality in what is the perfect coffee accompaniment. Training We are soon to be signing 2 more Team Leaders off within Starbucks towards the end of August. Kim and Simon are steadily working through the workbooks and practical training required to pass a practical assessment with Jon James later on in the Summer. No pressure!! Leavers We say a sad Good bye to Dan this week who has gone off to pastures new. Dan has been an important part of the Starbucks team for over 2 years and will be greatly missed. However I’m sure you will all join me and wish him well. New Starters Over the past 3 months we have recruited and trained many New people in Starbucks, both upstairs and downstairs. This week we will be looking to increase the team further, in readiness for what is going to be a fantastic and busy Summer.

  9. Burger King Firstly, I would like to Welcome Brin, Olly, Liam and Shaun to the team!!! We have 3 new promotions coming from 24th July… The Ploughman's XT, Fish Finger Sandwiches and the Hot Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream… YUM!!! Thank you to Hannah and Olly for supporting our Children In Need Fundraising… they recently collected £100 at the front of the site. We are also looking for volunteers on the 4th and 10th August, and the 28th September to help do some more collections and you can dress as Pudsey if you wish. If you are interested in supporting this amazing charity, please speak to Mike or Hannah. Our REV Audit is due any day!!!! Do you know what this means? Do you know what role you play in this? Did you know the auditor will present a letter to anyone in the unit requesting to commence our audit? If you need any help or guidance, please do not hesitate to talk to Mike or Hannah… we are one team, and together we will pass our audit. GO LARGE is still a massive push… we need to be hitting over 40% every week… Week commencing 11th July we achieved an amazing 45% WELL DONE!!! Interesting fact…11 celebrities have a lifetime supply of Burger King hamburgers… One of them being Jennifer Hudson!

  10. Children In Need So far this year, we have raised £6,000 towards Children In Need. Our target is £15,000 by October when we hand over our site cheque. Karen McConnell, Forecourt UBM, has taken on the reigns and is now challenging us all to do our part. Welcome Break have been sponsoring Children In Need for several years, and each year we give ourselves a bigger target to reach. And as this is the year of the Olympics, we are obviously going for GOLD! Over the last few weekends, staff have been volunteering their time to collect as many pennies as possible at the front of the site. Consequently, it’s become a bit of a competition to see who can raise the most cash in just a few hours. So far, the following people have raised: Sophey Gibbons – Forecourt - £118 Hannah Wilson – BK - £100 Glen Thomas and Adam Bailey – Gamezone / Wh Smiths - £185 Allie Simson – KFC - £200! So who is up for the challenge? On the 27th July we will be supporting Children In Need by having an Olympics theme day so please talk to your Management team and find out how you can take part.
