  1. Review of Appendix 27, 27A, & 27B FA-002-089

Background • In AY 07-08 the following changes to Appendix 16 were approved: • elimination of the reconsideration steps of RTP process at the department and the dean review levels. • Increase in applicant response time to comments at any level to 10 days. • Academic Affairs in consultation with the EC modified Appendix 27 (RTP Forms) in compliance with the changes.

  3. Background • Appendix 27A (Periodic Review Forms) assumes that post tenure and periodic reviews of probationary faculty is an RTP process. • Departments may or may not use DRTPC for periodic review of faculty members

  4. Recommendations • Pages 2, 9 and 16 of Appendix 27 be changed to comply with approved changes to Appendix 16. • Changes to appendix 27A are recommended to: • Indicate that periodic review of faculty is not an RTP action. • Periodic review of the faculty members shall be conducted by a peer review committee which may or may not be the DRTP committee. The committee will be referred to as Periodic Review Committee. • Distinct criteria for periodic review must be established by the department. The criteria may or may not be the same as the RTP criteria.

  5. Recommendations • No changes to Appendix 27 A (Part time faculty evaluation) is recommended.
