  1. ENG 380: NEW MEDIA FINAL PROJECT PIETRO MUSCATO

  2. WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM NEW MEDIA? • Various forms of advanced technology are being thought of everyday. • Most of the technology that we have today have been thought of early on through the years. • While technology advances, the challenge is to find a balance between our reliance on technology and our human instincts.

  3. WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES? • In a creative sense, the opportunities are limitless. • The opportunity to express new forms of art are at our fingertips. • The opportunity to question whether it can be called art if a paint brush was never picked up and a canvas was never brought to life.

  4. FOR EXAMPLE • If we think about the forms of text and how complicated they can be on a computer. Can text become art? Can words become an image?

  5. THE BOXER

  6. THE CROSS

  7. CAN YOU CALL THAT ART? • The paintbrush never touched the canvas. • The canvas was never there from the start. • The image was there. The thought was there. The Creator was there. • What’s the image? What’s the message?

  8. WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES? • Can you take a simple picture and turn it into a form of advertisement? • What if the picture was taken at random? By accident, is it still successful?

  9. THE CITY

  10. WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITES? • Can new forms of media create an event that never took place? • If technology is suppose to advance the future, can it change the past? • Can you change history?

  11. MUSCATO’S TERRITORY.ALI’S NIGHTMARE.

  12. THE FIGHT OF THE MILLENIUM.

  13. THE OPPORTUNITY • To create an imageout of words. • To get the picture behind the message, once you actually put the message in front of the picture. • Changing a personal picture into a commercial use. • Bringing together two different generations of a sport into one ring.

  14. What can New Media change? • Our senses of logic, emotion and observation. • It can make us think, how do we understand technology better? • It can make us more aware of our surroundings by understanding the world around us. • Researching information is limitless and powerful as long as you study what you’re researching.

  15. What can New Media change? • Change our perspectives and how we go about in this world. • People can now remix already existing media and change it into something completely new. • Instructors can teach a course only through media and never have to meet the students.

  16. What can New Media change? • Students are able to get their work done and never have to write another paper again. • All of this furthers our ability to question New Media and whether or not it is successful or if we can even trust it. • Would you be the same person without technology? • Where is all of this going to lead us?

  17. The Question • Are we able to move forward yet still hold on to our past. • I believe the only way to move ahead in life is to know where you’ve come from. • Could we reach a point where we identify ourselves only as either being a Humanist or an Engineer? • Are you The Humanist? Or The Engineer?
