E N D
Yo voy Tú vas Ella va Nosotros vamos Vosotros vais Ellos van Ir = to go
3 for 1 • Yo voy means: • I go • I am going • I do go
All forms of ir are usually followed by ‘a’ unless they are the last word of a sentence.
Going to do • Yo voy a estudiar. • I am going to study. • Usted va a dar una fiesta. • You are going to give a party.
Notice: you don’t conjugate (change) the verb after ir. You don’t change the word for what you are doing. • Vosotros vais a bailar.
Going places • You go to the place. • You need a for to and either el or la for the.
If it is a feminine place (la escuela) use a la. • Tú vas a la escuela. • Nosotros vamos a la tienda.
If it is a masculine place (el colegio) then it is tricky. The a and el combine and you have al. • Ellos van al colegio. • Yo voy al salón de clase.
