Close relations between the wild reindeer herds and reindeer herding (20 Russian regions, 11 reindeer herding peoples, different types of traditional reindeer herding, 4 reindeer breeds) • Involving the local communities into the process of co-management through the Russian NGOs such as our Commonwealth of Communities of Indigenous Peoples of the Russain North, Siberia and Far East • (the current wild reindeer herd management procedure is based on quota provided by the state bodies with recommendations of science. The quota can be given to any natural resources’ user). The reindeer herders should be included into co-management. • Expanding of educational activity for local peoples, reindeer herders’, vet college and school students (we are interested in atlas project, video training, Russian language CARMA web-page, Voices project What is in CARMA agenda ?

Arctic is the top of agenda The other species (polar bear, whales, tiger, etc) are on the top agenda Vladimir Putin told the indigenous peoples of Russian Arctic and their traditions are one of priorities of Russian Arctic state policy (Arctic is Territory of Dialog International Forum) Poor financing of wild reindeer and reindeer herding research projects and especially interactions between Indigenous peoples at the start of process of co-management Challenges for CARMA
