Close relations between the wild reindeer herds and reindeer herding (20 Russian regions, 11 reindeer herding peoples, different types of traditional reindeer herding, 4 reindeer breeds) • Involving the local communities into the process of co-management through the Russian NGOs such as our Commonwealth of Communities of Indigenous Peoples of the Russain North, Siberia and Far East • (the current wild reindeer herd management procedure is based on quota provided by the state bodies with recommendations of science.
