EarthEcho Water Challenge/World Water Monitoring Day IWLA Harry Enstrom Chapter Allegheny County Watershed Alliance
EarthEcho Water Challenge is an international event to encourage water monitoring and the sharing of the data from all over the world. IWLA Harry Enstrom Chapter& Allegheny CountyWatershed Alliance are working together to encourage local watershed groups, conservation groups, outdoor organizations and individuals to take water samples on September 21st.
Pennsylvania Waterways:Pennsylvania has over 86,000 miles of streams, rivers, lakes, and ponds but, unfortunately, 40% do not meet the minimum standards of healthy water. As Pennsylvanians we have a unique right—our constitution guarantees to its citizens clear air, pure water, and the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic, and aesthetic values of the environment for present and future generations. We also have a unique responsibility, with six major watersheds that provide water for homes and family, agriculture and industry, to ensure our neighbors receive clean water.
World Water Monitoring Day • Select your site: Choose any lake, stream or river where you can monitor safely. • Prepare your monitoring equipment: Use your own equipment • Monitor your site: Invite others to help you test or do it on your own. • Share Your Data: You did the work, so let us know about your water. Send the results to your organization and also send your results to iwlaharryenstromwater@gmail.com. They will work with local colleges and universities to collate and analyze the data. The results will then be shared with all the participating groups as well as the public. • Protect water resources: Work with your group and neighboring groups to protect your local waterways.
