TechWAGGIN is a technology training program for public libraries in Pennsylvania. Staff will gain computer skills, software knowledge, and help patrons with library resources. The initiative aims to enhance library support, increase resource usage, and stay relevant in the digital world.

TechWAGGINis a technology training initiative for public libraries in the Washington Library District in Southwest Pennsylvania. • Why technology training? • Staying Up To Date • Libraries and Transliteracy Overview
Staff will: • Gain basic computer/mobile device and internet skills • Become familiar with commonly used software • Be able to direct and assist patrons with all available library resources Overview: Goals
Libraries will be able to provide exemplary support to patrons requiring technology assistance at any time. • Library resource usage will increase. • Libraries will stay relevant with high quality services in today’s ever-changing digital world. • Up to 12 hours of CE Credit Overview: Benefits
Libraries will participate in entire program from start to finish. • Staff members, including Directors, will be given up to 1 hour per topic of paid time and a training station to complete tasks. • Participants must be able to perform basic computer skills prior to training, including: • Hardware--Turn on/off computer, monitor, printer • Mouse--Moving cursor, left-click, scroll page, click and drag • Programs--Find, open and close programs, including internet browser • Internet--Typing website URL in address bar Overview: Expectations

EDGE Assessment: Community Value Benchmark 1: Libraries provide assistance and training with the goal of increasing the level of digital literacy in the community. 81% of PA Libraries offer one-on-one technology help on-demand for at least 10 minute sessions. Benchmark 2: Libraries provide access to relevant digital content and enable community members to create their own digital content. 98% of PA Libraries have office productivity software. Benchmark 3: Libraries provide technology resources to help patrons meet important needs related to personal goals & community priorities. 59% of PA Libraries offer access to online testing preparation tools through its website and/or through career testing software.
