  1. Go-Kits City of Rowlett R.A.C.E.S.

What are “Go-Kits”? • It is what you need to operate at an incident • It is what you need to sustain yourself at an incident (food, water, etc.) whether the incident is long (days) or short (hours) • It must be portable and you must be able to carry it wherever you need to go • Don’t forget, it may need to support your family if the incident effects your home, or being able to get to your home.

  3. What are some minimum recommendations? • Hardhat (properly marked) • Reflective vest • Jacket • Boots • Lightweight raingear • Copy of SOP • Map of the area • HAZMATGuidebook • Flashlight • Binoculars • Dual band HT • Charged Batteries • A “Power Pole” standard adapter to charge you batteries • An ear bud with a 12 foot extender • Antenna adapters, coax connectors/cables to • connect your HT to the PL-259/UHF connectors • Tools (screwdriver, pliers, etc.) DON’T FORGET FOOD AND WATER (enough for you and your family)

  4. Additional items to bring • BLANK copies of BLMRS cards and any other form in the MOP. • Pen’s/Pencil’s • Clipboard/Notebook • Be able to cut your kit down to fit the duration of the incident • When you arrive at the incident, carry the kit with you. Don’t expect to be able to have the time to walk back to your car. • Include personal stuff if you think you’ll need it (medicines, spare glasses, spare contacts, etc.) • BE READY TO BE SELF SUPPORTING

  5. Final Thoughts • A lot of this stuff you should already have. • Don’t go out and buy all of this stuff. Ask around, some folks may have extras • Accumulate it over time. Questions?
