STRESS: COMPREHENSIVE & AUTHENTIC SUMMER SCHOOL • Selye International Institute for Advanced Studies & IUPHAR GI Section • University of Zagreb, Faculty of Medicine, Departments of Pharmacology & Pathology • July 21-25, 2014, Zagreb, Croatia Course goals: To better understand the concept of biologic stress, its manifestations, mechanisms & its pharmacologic ramifications (e.g., the anti-inflammatory & immune-modulating actions of glucocorticoids& the possibility of drug-interventions in severe distress). The venue: Zagreb, capital of Croatia, is historic city with great cultural heritage (similar to Budapest, Prague & Vienna, each about 200-400 km from Zagreb). University of Zagreb, Faculty of Medicine is the oldest & best school of higher education in Croatia: in addition to historic buildings, it has modern lecture rooms & new student dormitory on its large, green campus (rooms available for 20-27 euros).
