Lab Grown Diamonds Manufacturing Diamonds are the most sparkling stones you’d have ever seen. This is definitely not something anyone would want to argue about. These diamonds are too expensive for anyone but the richest to own. The major reason for their rarity is the process by which these gemstones are created through natural means. It takes hundreds of millions of years and can only occur in specific places inside the earth's crust ensuring special conditions. Unlike the lab manufactured diamonds, these diamonds are made by natural forces over many millions of years. They are created so deep inside the earth, that the pressures and heat they are subjected to make it impossible for anything else to survive. The only way that humans are able to get to these natural gems is when they are brought to the earth's surface by volcanic eruptions. Did you know? Lately, it has been very much possible to create man made diamonds that replicate the real ones in all the possible ways. In fact, today's man made diamonds are made with so much precision that only sophisticated chemical testing can tell the difference between them and the real stones. If you evaluate the differences, you’ll see that the natural diamonds do have tiny imperfections, while the man made diamonds are perfect. Another difference is the cost. It is known that these synthetic diamonds are much cheaper than the natural kind for obvious reasons. While the batch of lab-grown diamonds take only a few months to be created while that of the natural sparkling gem takes millions of years. Since they’re both diamonds, there is nothing else that can distinguish them. The lab grown diamonds growers have 2 major methods for manufacturing these synthetic gemstones. The first and the most important method is called the high pressure, high temperature method, which requires the natural conditions for gemstone creation. It is the most widely used, owing to its relatively low cost. This process involves placing into a belt type of a press graphite that is dissolved into molten iron, cobalt or nickel. The metals play the role of a catalyst which is ideal for the dissolution of carbon, which eventually converts into a diamond. This method is primarily used in making diamonds, not jewellery. Lab grown diamond companies also use the Chemical Vapor Deposition method – better known as CVD. It is primarily used for gem-quality diamonds, thanks to its ability to control the chemical purity and ultimate qualities of the gemstones to a great extent. CVD method plays a major role in placing a thin wafer of diamond into a special container in order to produce a plasma which then rains down onto the substrate to grow a diamond from the ground up. Lab created diamonds are developed in order to be a true rival to the shine and beauty of the real diamonds. However, the only difference remains simply is that these marvels of technological advancements make them more affordable than natural rarities. Adding to this, they are also more approachable and ideal to make any jewellery mesmerizingly beautiful.
