  1. 020106 A message to the users of this show from Leon Bates… Over the years, the material in this show has been very helpful to believers who desire a Victorious Christian Life. Missionaries have also given feedback about how much it helped them and those to whom they ministered. Many churches and other Christian organizations have used this material for Believers Bible Classes and as part of their “follow up” for new converts. We encourage viewers of this show to the take time to see the Scriptures in their own Bibles. This show can be a helpful supplemental teaching to the “Projection For Survival” Power Point Show. We’re making it available separately from that show for your ease of use. May God bless your use of this Power Point Show for His glory. Please share it with others off our web page. This “Christian Walk” Power Point Show starts on page 4, just after the blank page for your cueing. Bible Believers’ Evangelistic Association, Inc. 189 Old Perrin Rd. 3. The Christian Walk

  4. Many times when people get saved, they think their life will be a “bed of roses” thereafter. WRONG! 1ST Peter 5:8 WARNS: “Be sober, be vigilant (be on guard); because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:” Praise the Lord, the devil CAN NOT rob you of your salvation, but HE CAN try to mess up your Christian walk and life. And he has a good reason to try to do that!

  5. BATTLES in your Christian walk and life will not be uncommon. All Christians will face BATTLES with the devil in their life, but God gives protection and help for their VICTORY. The BATTLES may be so subtle, often the Christian may not even realize he is being deceived and misled by the devil. 1st Peter 1:9 tells us what to do about the devil’s fight against us… “Whom resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

  6. BALANCE is critical in our Christian lives. One way the devil can foul up our lives is to get us OFF BALANCE, one way or another. 1. Bible Study. This is our spiritual FOOD. Without this, we can not grow strong in our Christian walk and faith. 2. Prayer. This is our intimate fellowship with God, expressing our heart’s desires to Him. 3. Worship. God deserves our regular worship, both privately and publicly in church. 4. Witnessing. This is like our exercise for a healthy, balanced Christian walk and life.

  7. C The balanced Christian life is like a WHEEL. Christ is to be the center or HUB, with 4 spokes for support. 1. BIBLE 2. PRAYER 3. WORSHIP 4. WITNESS The devil doesn’t care HOW we are OFF BALANCE. ANY WAY WILL DO! He just wants our focus off of Christ.

  8. WHY does God warn us about the devil’s attempt to fight against believers in their Christian walk and life. WHY does the devil “walk around like a ROARING LION”… trying to weaken our faith and obedience to God. The devil wants to drag as many unsaved people off into Hell as possible. One effective way is through his BATTLES with Christians.

  9. God wants to save the lost. God Jesus The Holy Spirit God’s Word Lost People God has a Chain of Operation for evangelism. He sent Jesus to die to pay for their sins. Jesus obeyed God and later He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in the saved people. Among other jobs, the Holy Spirit authored the Word of God through human writers.

  10. Whose job is this? And give them a right relationship with God. God So the Holy Spirit working through The Word can bring them to Jesus… Jesus The Holy Spirit The job is to get Lost People exposed to God’s Word… God’s Word BELIEVERS All believers in all nations are to be “Ambassadors for Christ” (Matt. 28:18-20; 2nd Cor. 5:20; 1st Pet. 3:15) Lost People

  11. S a t a n Satan is the enemy of God. He wants to rob God of the glory of saving the lost. Satan fought against God but Satan was kicked out of heaven. God Fought against Christ, but Satan was defeated at the cross & resurrection. Jesus Holy Spirit is more powerful. (1st John 4:4) God’s Word is protected. (Matt. 24:35) Satan can’t rob believers of their salvation, so he fights their walk to hinder or stop evangelism. Believers Lost People

  12. At the instant you trusted Christ alone as your SAVIOR, you are guaranteed Eternal Life with God by many promises like: John 3:15,16, 36, 5:24, 10:27-29, Titus 1:2, Heb. 13:5, 1st John 5:11-13 However, you will still have CHALLENGES in your daily life on earth between now and the time you go to Heaven. (1st Pet. 5:8-10) Be Aware! Satan WILL try to discourage you, destroy your Bible study, prayer, church and worship life and ruin your witness for Christ.

  13. Satan wants to keep your mouth shut about Jesus Christ, to help keep unsaved people lost. That’s one main reason why you will have BATTLES in your Christian walk. GOOD NEWS: God has made provision for victory in your daily life… your Christian Walk... for the JOY that Jesus gives. This study will share practical Biblical truths and tips… to help you in your daily life.

  14. The “Battle Map – For The Christian Walk” tract and inside chart shows and explains the FOUR categories of people. Every person on earth is one of these... 1. The NATURAL man 2. The BABY Christian 3. The VICTORIOUS Christian 4. The DEFEATED Christian

  15. The NATURAL Man can not live the Christian life because he is spiritually dead. He is on the “Broad Road” to the Lake of Fire. The “Broad Road” is GOOD WORKS people are trusting to help earn their salvation. They chose that road instead of the “Narrow Road” which is faith in the shed blood (death) of Christ alone as the only payment for their sins.

  16. 1. God puts the concern into the hearts of unsaved people. Jesus said, “No man can come to me , except the Father which has sent me draw him.” (John 6:44) 2. As they respond to that concern and have a change of mind concerning God (needing God)He continues to work in their hearts. Salvation of the “Natural Man” is a four step process, Concern, Repentance (change of mind), Understanding and Faith.

  17. But they have not yet understood salvation by grace through faith. One surprise is that many people who think they are saved, are actually stuck here. They have been convicted by the Holy Spirit and they have had a change of mind from “I don’t need God” to “I DO need God.”

  18. A. HUMAN EFFORTS as: YES NO X X “Living a good life” X “Good Works, good deeds” B. OTHER (Be Specific) ___________________ “Church Membership” Also Christ They often answer…“Also Christ”which is a combination of good works AND Christ. MANY people answer what they are trusting for their salvation like these answers…

  19. What % of YOURtrust for salvation is in: 70 30 A. HUMAN EFFORTS ____ B. OTHER ____ Examples: 50/50, 70/30, 100/0, etc. Any combination % here CONFIRMS they are trusting a combination of human efforts AND Christ. Any combination % also CONFIRMS they have not yet understood the Gospel and God’s plan of salvation by grace alone.

  20. 3. As they hear God’s Word, they can come to understandGod’s terms for salvation by GRACE alone, by FAITH in Christ alone. (Eph. 2:8, 9) 4. When they respond to God’s Holy Spirit, they can use the faith God gives them to trust Christ alone for their salvation. (Rom. 10:17; Eph. 1:13) They are taking the “Narrow Road” of Christ alone to their “Spiritual BIRTH” and eternal life (John 14:6, Acts 4:12; 1st Pet. 1:23).

  21. Here are some Facts about “Spiritual Birth”… #1. Spiritual Birth is REQUIRED. Jesus said, we MUST be Born Again (born spiritually) to enter into the Kingdom of God. (John 3:3 - 7) #2. Spiritual Birth is BY FAITH (not human efforts). “For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus” (Gal. 3:26) #3. Once born into God’s family, we CAN NOT BECOME UNBORN. God’s Word promises us everlasting life, we shall not come into condemnation and we have passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)

  22. Relationship Fellowship Our eternal RELATIONSHIP with God Our daily FELLOWSHIP with God Spiritual Relationship and Fellowship with God are much like our Physical Relationship and Fellowship with our parents.

  23. Fellowship Fellowship is established by OBEDIENCE. If you obey, there will be benefits for your life. Fellowship and benefits may fluctuate. Relationship is established by BIRTH. There is no way you can become “unborn” and cease to exist. They are your parents, you are their child. It’s a permanent Relationship. Relationship

  24. Your Fellowship is affected, but not your Relationship. They are still your parents, you are still their child, obedient or disobedient. Relationship Fellowship If you disobey your parents, they may take away your car keys, take away your TV and send you to your room without your supper.

  25. Answer: NOTHING. Relationship is permanent. Only Fellowship is affected by our obedience or disobedience Relationship Fellowship When you decide to get right with your parents, broken Fellowship can be restored. Question: What is the one thing that can break your Relationship with your parents (or God)?

  26. Our eternal RELATIONSHIP with God Our daily FELLOWSHIP with God Our daily FELLOWSHIP with God fluctuates based on our OBEDIENCEto God’s Word. (See Col. 1:9,10; 2:6,7 3:16,17; 4;5,6; 1st John 1:3-7) Our eternal RELATIONSHIP with God is forever and as SECURE and guaranteed as the promises of God who can not lie. (John 10:27-29; Titus 1:2; 1st John 5:11-13)

  27. Here, Christ becomes our SAVIOR. We trusted Him and committed our SOULto Him for our salvation and Eternal Life. Here, Christ becomes our LORD. We are to daily trust our BODY to Him as our boss, our ruler… for His best in all aspects of our life. Our eternal RELATIONSHIP with God Our daily FELLOWSHIP with God

  28. Relationship is our POSITION. Fellowship is our WALK. Our eternal RELATIONSHIP with God Our daily FELLOWSHIP with God They are SEPARATE ISSUES. Paul wrote to the believers, “I beseech you therefore, brethren(already saved people)… that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)

  29. Question: What does it mean to be “saved?” Answer: There are three phases of salvation: Justification, Sanctification and Glorification. 1. Justification: When we trust Christ 100% as our Savior, we are “Declared Righteous.” Christ’s righteousness is “imputed” (given) to us. His righteousness makes us perfect in God’s eyes. That’s our “Justification.” For He (God) has made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin (Christ); that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (2nd Cor. 5:21)

  30. God took all our sins (past, present & future) and placed them on Christ on the cross. He died to pay sin’s death penalty FOR US. When we trust Christ 100% as our Savior, God credits us with the very righteousness of Christ. This gets us to Heaven.

  31. JUSTIFICATION is our salvation from the PENALTY of sin. This is the past tense phase of our salvation. When we trusted Christ 100%, we were saved from Hell and promised Eternal Life in Heaven with God. This is our Relationship (position)with God. Our sins are forgiven, past, present and future. Our position is perfect in Christ and we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 1:13,14)

  32. 2. Sanctification: Salvation from the POWER of sin. This is the present tense phase of salvation, where God progressively cleans up our lives. Sanctification means “set apart for God.” We are in the world, but not to be corrupted by the world, not isolated but insulated. (John 17:15) How are we, the church, the body of believers, to be insulated, cleansed, set apart? By obedience to God’s Word.

  33. Jesus prayed for the disciples (and us): “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. (Eph. 5:25, 26) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: (God’s Word) that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature… (2nd Peter 1:4)

  34. Here is a major tip for success in our Christian walk… “As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk you in Him.” (Col. 2:6) What is in common about how we received Him and how we are to walk in Him? (Discuss) We received Him by appropriating God’s promises by faith concerning our salvation from thePenaltyof Sin. Example: John 3:16 We are to walk in Him by appropriating God’s promises by faith concerning our salvation from thePower of Sin. Examples: James 4:7; 1st Peter 5:8-10

  35. Here’s another tip for our victorious walk… Most of God’s promises are “conditional promises.” Just like a contract, we must meet the terms before we can claim the promise. Example of a Contract : To purchase new car: Terms: 60 monthly $300 payments. Promise: Clear Title. Meet the terms and claim the promise! Example of God’s Promises : James 4:7 Terms: (2)A. Submit yourself to God. B. Resist the devil. Promise: He will flee from you. Meet the terms and claim the promise!

  36. Example (True Story): James 4:7 was shown to a Christian lady who wanted to quit smoking. Terms: A. Submit yourself to God. Ask God in prayer to help you. B. Resist the devil. Get cigarettes out of your life, car and home. Later the Christian lady was asked about her problem. She said, “God gave me the victory. I did as James 4:7 said. A. I asked God in prayer to help me. B. I threw away the cigarettes in my house and car. I even threw away a purse because it smelled like tobacco.” Meet the terms and claim the promise!

  37. When we get our new Glorified body at the RAPTURE. (1st Thes. 4:15-17) 3. Glorification: Salvation from the PRESENCE of sin. Future tense, never to be exposed to sin again. Glorification is promised to the saved. (Rom. 8:30) When will this happen? Our new body will be incorruptible and there will be no sin in Heaven. (1st Cor. 15:51, 52; Rev. 21:23-27)

  38. Question: What does it mean to be “saved?” Answer: We have been saved (Justified) from the Penalty of sin, We are being saved (Sanctified, set apart) from the Power of sin, We will be saved (Glorified) from the Presence of sin, never to be exposed to sin again.

  39. We who have been Justified(past tense) Are guaranteed Glorification(future tense). We may or may not have much Sanctification in our Christian walk (present tense). We are “saints” (our position) But are we always “saintly” (obedient in our walk)?

  40. Much of the New Testament (Romans through Jude)is to believers about our Fellowship(our walk, our progressive Sanctification, our salvation from the Power of Sin). We need to always look at the context & see which phase of salvation the verse refers to. Context: Who is it talking to and what is it talking about? Relationship or Fellowship? Context: Does the verse apply to our Justification, Sanctification or Glorification? Many who don’t determine that, often get confused and misapply Scriptures.

  41. Example: See 1st John 1:9. This is sometimes shown to lost people for salvation. Is this a correct Scripture to use for unsaved people? Context: It’s to saved people. See 1st John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1st John 2:1) “These things” (the previous verses) are written to “my little children” saved people… about sin in their walk(Fellowship, not Relationship)

  42. How do we know 1st John 1:9 is about our Fellowship rather than our Relationship? Look at the previous verses, 1st John 1:3-7. Fellowship, fellowship, fellowship, fellowship… It’s used FOUR times in these verses. Some passages talk about Relationship ANDFellowship. Example, see Eph. 2:8-10. Vs. 8,9 are Relationship. Vs. 10 is Fellowship (walk). Some verses talk about ALL three phases of our salvation. See 2nd Cor. 1:9,10. (KJV) He delivered(past tense),doth deliver(present tense) and He will yet deliver(future tense) us from the sentence of death.

  43. Victorious Christian They must learn how to walk in Christ by reading, studying and obeying the Bible. It’s normal for new Christians to start their Christian WALK (Fellowship) as spiritually immature, but it’s not normal to stay there. Maximum JOY comes as they grow from spiritual immaturity towards Christ likeness. This is God’s goal for all believers.

  44. WHY should we CHOOSE to obey Christ and seek to live Victorious Christian lives? 1. We should choose to obey Christ because of His love for us. And He died for all that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again. (2nd Cor. 5:15) He loved us enough to die for us. Wouldn’t it be the least we can do (in gratitude), to live for Him, that is live for His glory?

  45. 2. We should choose to obey Christto please the indwelling Holy Spirit. Eph. 4:30 says: And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed until the day of redemption. 3. We should choose to obey Christ because His commands are for our good. Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psa. 119:11) His commands help protect us from the dangers and consequences of sin.

  46. 4. We should choose to obey Christ because sin is very destructive. It often leaves scars. The damage may be: A. Emotional (guilt, shame and fear) B. Mental (memory flash backs) C. Physical (illness and pain, loss of property or even loss of life) and D. Spiritual (damage to our testimony and grieving the Holy Spirit of God within us.) Even after a Christian’s sin is forgiven by God, Satan may use the memory of sins to try to discourage the believer in their faith and walk.

  47. 5. We should choose to obey Christ becauseHE IS WORTHY! God has highly exalted Christ above every name. (Phil. 2:7-9) Since God has exalted Christ, is Christ not worthy of our obedience? Every knee will eventually bow before Christ and confess that He IS LORD. (Phil. 2:10,11) Eventually, why not now? Millions in Heaven will proclaim, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain…” (Rev. 4:10,11; 5:11,12) Eventually, why not now?

  48. Defeated Christian Victorious Christians have trusted Christ as Savior AND LORD. They’re learning & claiming God’s promises for victory over sin and Satan. Defeated Christians have trusted Christ as their Savior but they’re NOT trusting Him as LORD. Victorious Christian They are carnal, slaves to sinful desires and habits, they lack real joy and will be ashamed when they meet Christ. (1st John 2:28)

  49. Defeated Christian Carnal Delayed Dedication Paul told some saved people (brethren, babes in Christ) they were carnal (1st Cor. 3:1-4) A Delayed Dedication and Walk with God could salvage some wasted time and spiritual growth potential… but what a shame for the waste. When Christians are asked why they delayed trusting Christ as their LORD (boss, ruler) most reply they did not understand about the Bible’s teaching of the Victorious Christian Walk.
