  4. Predictive Services Mission • Reason: Proactive resource allocation Strategic resource allocations & priority setting will provide: -maximize public & firefighter safety -reduce losses -lower costs

  5. Staffing at Coordination Centers • Two fire weather meteorologists • Intelligence personnel • Wildland Fire Analyst - full time at NIFC - during season at some centers

  6. Priority Areas for Assessment • Weather forecast products & services • Partnering and collaboration efforts • User response, decision support, user impacts • Information dissemination and technologies

  7. Best Practices • Fire Environment Working Team (FENWT) and other interagency groups • Face-to-face meetings between fire agencies & NWS • FX-Net & ROMAN partnerships

  8. Needs to be addressed…part I • Standards, requirements & verification for NWS and Predictive Services products and services • Interagency approach to integration of NWS digital products into Predictive Services. • Improved NWS general/planning fire weather forecasts (FWF) • Re-think spot forecasts • Boundary issues with digital/graphical forecasts

  9. Needs to be addressed…part II • Fire weather IT • Greater partnering and collaboration between fire agencies & NWS • Need to have an interagency-led user assessment…not be a single agency. • Need to involve FENWT to ensure this assessment meets their needs.
