Phase 1 July Map Connections In order to make sure that the Ohio EPA is ready for VOIP we need to make sure we have done a complete check of our Network and current phone system and identify continued land line requirements. Floor Plan August • Phone • Fax machine • Copier • Printer • Computer
Phase 1 July Map Connections Floor Plan • Three people will be working as a team • Collect all the device information about the site. • Placed in a excel spreadsheet • Cable Testing • Two staff of the three person team will test all the network drops and mark them on the map • Estimated interruption: • 5 minute task for each network drop. Including the time it takes to record all the information about the drop on the network, such as what phone do they have what computer and or other devices for the drop. • Estimated 3 days of work for each location • 5 minutes per each drop and around 200 drops per remote location. August • Phone • Fax machine • Copier • Printer • Computer
Phase 1 July Map Connections Floor Plan August • Satch, Brent, and the local infrastructure resource will be the three man team for each site. • Easy access to network drops, computer and phone • Clean, accessible area helpful • having to move things around to get to the network drop will delay progress and schedule • Identify “hidden” drops before we visit • If you know of a phone or fax machine that is not near a network drop help the team make sure it’s not missed on the site visit. • Phone • Fax machine • Copier • Printer • Computer
Phase 1 July Confirm Map Connections Floor Plan August • Collected the information will be compiled • A breakdown by each site with it’s map will be given back to the sites to be reviewed for accuracy. • Sign off from each site that the team captured all the current phones in the building and tested a network drop for the new VOIP phone to plug into. • Confirm when there is no network drop where the current phone is . • 90% of the time phone drops are nothing more than cat 5 cable with an RJ45 drop with an RJ11 phone jack plugged in. If the line will pass the 1GB test then we can use that line for the new phone. If not a new network drop will have to be run and tested. • Phone • Fax machine • Copier • Printer • Computer
