The Pauline Model • Greeting • Identifies Himself • Offers Encouragement (usually includes “I’m praying for you”) • Proclaims the virtues of Christ • His life / their lives / in creation • Focus on readers • Remind them of their former relationship • Remind them of their new relationship • Explains to them how “grateful” they should be • Because of gratitude, “live this way”

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:15-17)

I am the root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.” The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come”. And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.” (Revelation 22:16f)
