QoSMobileQuality of Service for Mobile TV Networks MWC, Barcelona, February 2009 nelly.dagorne@enensys.com
QoSMobile Objectives Personal Mobile Television is already a commercial reality in multiple countries Quality of Service (QoS) actually delivered to the end-user will definitely be a key factor for the successful adoption of this new service
QoSMobile Objectives The QoSMobile project is intended to address the problems faced by network and service operators on the supervision and monitoring of mobile television networks
QoSMobile Expected Results Identify key parameters - at RF, MPEG2-TS, DVB-H/SH, OMA-BCAST/DVB-IPDC levels - and monitor them to assess the QoS delivered to end-users Introduce the end user’s perception (Quality of Experience - QoE) at the heart of the Quality of Service monitoring Integrate and feed a propagation simulator in order to monitor and optimize the network coverage Provide feedback on network elements for network optimization Supervise Mobile TV networks from end to end
QoSMobile Expected Results • Monitor key parameters and use them to evaluate the QoS delivered to end users • Set up feedback on network elements for network optimization • Integrate and feed a propagation simulator in order to monitor and optimize the network coverage Fixed Probe Head-End Distribution Transmission Multiplexing Encapsulation Synchronization Synchronization Modulation Encoding (H264) DVB-H/SH Handheld Probe IP ESG (IPDC/OMA) HeadEnd Probe SFN Preservation SFN Preservation SFN Preservation Fixed Probe SNMP Supervision Propagation Simulator NMS QoE Monitor
