  4. Add • Detail • Description • Figurative language • Development • Quotations for support • Clarification for meaning • Expanded ideas • Transitions to make your writing flow smoothly

  5. Rearrange • The sequence to produce a better effect • The order for a more logical flow • Sentences to vary the sentence types • Wording in sentences to make your writing more concise

  6. Other suggestions • Have other people read your essay and get their feedback • Read your paper out loud • to catch confusing wording, • to catch spelling or punctuation or grammatical errors • (you might want to record yourself reading your paper aloud and then listen to it – that can help catch awkwardness, too)
