GENERAL CONCEPT OF THE OPERATION High Level -Plans A and B
BTL’s Mira Loma, CA facility has the capacity to transload 20 rail cars per day. (see maps in appendix) Possibility to increase to 40 rail cars per day. The Mira Loma, CA facility is a unique facility with the amount of rail and space. You will not find many locations with the same rail capacity. BTL would then dray the containers at the max allowable weight of 48k lbs per 40FT container. Notes of Interest: Multiple UP dedicated rail lines with ability to switch BNSF cars. Operation can begin within 30 days. Price: $19 Per MT Plan A – Stage 1 “What we can offer within 30 Days”
Search in progress for a second facility in the overweight corridor. If not the overweight corridor a location within 10 – 15 miles of the ports. Caltrans will allow greater than 48k lbs for short distances. Contingency plan: Contract with a local firm in the desired location to support our plan. (local firms identified) Operational Plan when Stage 1 and Stage 2 complete: Mira Loma, CA facility will be used for transloading Transport from Mira Loma, Ca at 48k lbs stopping off at the second facility to top off containers to 56k lbs. Continue container drayage into the port terminals Price: $19 Per MT Plan A – Stage 2 Top Off “What we can offer within 60 Days”
“BTL capital investment” of roughly $250k would allow BTL to conduct the entire operation at the BTL Mira Loma, Ca facility or any facility with the rail capacity. Same operation as Plan A. However, well cars will be used in place of trucking. Well cars can hold greater than 56k lbs per container or the max allowable by the ocean carrier. Possible to load 60k lbs in standard 40FT container. BTL would like the client to review this proposal and allow us to begin with Plan A. BTL will then begin the operational enhancements to incorporate well cars into the equation. Notes of Interest: A well car operation will appeal to local governments and authorities. The elimination of trucking/drayage will reduce traffic and emissions. Strong and serious future leverage. Important Considerations Regarding Plan A – “Future State” within 90 Days
Plan B – 4 to 6 Months Out Acquire a property in the heavy weight corridor. There are operational capacity issues in the corridor with the amount of rail tracking needed. Currently looking at BNSF locations: 711 East Anaheim Street in Wilmington, CA Other like facilities
