  3. Sites and Attractions. • Being a beautiful island I'm sure you can imagine all the great sights to see. • Salamanca place Port Arthur Historic Site.

  4. Natural Sites. • Tasmania being a historic island has lots of natural sites. • The Cataract Gorge is a river northern Tasmania, Australia and is one of the region's premier tourist attractions.

  5. Water & Land Activities. • Tasmania has countless number of activities for both water and land that one could enjoy. • Land- Golfing, horseback riding, mountain biking, cycling, hiking, quading, rock climbing and more. • Water – Boat cruises, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, wind surfing, white water rafting and more.

Island Origin. • The history of Tasmania begins at the end of the most recent ice age (approximately 10,000 years ago) when it is believed that the island was joined to the Australian mainland. • Tasmania was inhabited by an indigenous population , the Tasmanian Aborigines , and evidence indicates their presence in the territory, later to become an island, at least 35,000 years ago. The Aboriginal population at the time of British settlement in 1803 has been estimated at approximately 5,000 or more but through persecution (see Black War and Black Line) and disease much of the population was eradicated. Until the 1970s, most people thought that the last surviving Tasmanian Aborigine was Trugernanner who died in 1876

  7. Languages. • The Tasmanian or Palawa languages were the languages indigenous to the island of Tasmania. The languages were last used for daily communication in the 1830s. The last full-blooded Tasmanian died on Flinders Island in 1888, but a Tasmanian lingua franca continued to be used until 1905, with the death of the last known speaker, Fanny Cochrane Smith. Tasmanian Aborigines today speak English.

  8. Clothing. • Tasmanian aborigines wore little animal skin clothing and decorated their bodies with scars. • Currently Tasmanians dress modernly. Like any other modernized country.

  9. Music. • Tasmanians are known for their love of folk music. • Famous folk musicians are; Marjorie and Steve Gadd, Dave Eely, Eileen Joyce and many more.
