  2. WHO ARE THE AMISH? • Amish is a Christian religion based on old time traditions founded by Jacob Amman in 1693.

  3. LIFESTYLE • The Amish live a life that rejects modern technologies, such as cars and modern clothing, believing that it is necessary to fully feel God’s presence.

  4. DIETY/SALVATION • As a Christian religion, the Amish worship the Christian God and follow the Bible. • They believe in salvation through Christ, but to really reach God, one must live a simple life and do good deeds.

  5. LOCATION • Amish origins lie in Switzerland, but spread to the Americas (primarily in Pennsylvania) during the 18th century.

  6. THE AFTERLIFE • Believe in the Christian idea of salvation, but good deeds are what ultimately seal ones fate.

  7. NUMBER OF FOLLOWERS • The Amish are a minority, but as of 2010, they have about 250,000 followers.

  8. CURRENT LIFESTYLE • Modern culture, such as taxes, education, and discrimination, has impacted the Amish lifestyle, leaving many with no choice but to adapt.

  9. POPULAR CULTURE • The Amish lifestyle has been featured in many forms of entertainment, including movies, TV shows, and music.
