  2. Compare your Charts • Because you must portray these characters, you need to compare your direct/indirect characterization charts with your group members. Add things you don’t have and subtract things that do not fit.

  3. Now, assign who will play what role…write this down at the top of your outline • Elizabeth Proctor • John Proctor • Rev. Hale • Mary Warren • Cheever • Remember, someone may have to take on 2 roles • Make sure you decide how the audience is going to know who is who (name tags; introductions etc).   4. Brainstorm: How are you going to modernize it? • Setting • Business place • Starbucks coffee date • Walmart aisle • Props • Ipod • CD or disk • Cell Phone • People • Dr. • Lawyer • Walmart clerk • Teacher • Motivation (Puritan faith) • Work related rules • Club rules

  5. Begin Outline • Elizabeth & John and established tension: • Mary Warren’s reports of the town events of the day/giving Elizabeth the “poppet”. • Rev. Hale coming to question the Proctors about their faith. • Cheever looking for the Poppet • Elizabeth being arrested and taken to prison. • John forcing Mary Warren to admit to giving the poppet to Elizabeth and Mary Warren afraid of Abigail.

  6. PRACTICE!!!! • You can use a script tomorrow, but it is best to practice on your own and with your group—you’ll do much better that way!
