General • Purpose • To remove the continuously increasing traffic congestion from the town of Brookeville • To improve traffic safety and transportation operations • To preserve the historic district
General • Needs • Traffic is estimated to be 18,000 vehicles per day in the year 2020 with the encroaching development of the nearby area of Olney • Replace the substandard road geometries that exist currently • A stop sign located at the junction of 97 and Market Street impedes traffic flow and creates adverse environmental conditions • Operating at a Level of Service (LOS) D and is estimated to deteriorate to LOS F during peak PM hours in the year 2020 if no improvements are made • The accident rate in Brookeville is 154.1 per one hundred million vehicle miles (acc/100mvm)
