Diagnosis of heartburn Without proper tests, it is very difficult to diagnose heartburn as many different diseases have similar symptoms. For example, hiatal hernia pain is also somewhat similar. But endoscopy is perhaps one of the common methods to diagnose heartburn and other such diseases. In endoscopy, a flexible tube is passed down in the food pipe and then the structure of the food pipe is checked. If a biopsy is needed, it can be taken. Hence endoscopy provides the most convenient method to diagnose heartburn. Special X-ray and pH tests are used in other cases. RefluxMD provides various methods by which you can lower the heartburn.
