SIKAL ELEKTRIK RAKYAT 1 MALAYSIA (SER1M) 2016 PROJECT PROPOSAL 2016
1.0 PROJECT BACKGROUND One product that can solve these issues is Voltron Electric Pedal Assisted Bicycles (EPAB). 22% of global CO2 emissions are accounted for by the transport sector. This number is expected to increase 213% by 2030. Thus, GreenTech Malaysia has proposed Sikal Elektrik 1 Malaysia (SER1M) program to provide 6 Universities with 1,200 EPABS that will inspire the younger generation of Malaysians to go green. Currently, there are over 22 million cars on the road and this number is expected to grow 12% yearly which is why Malaysians are forced to experience traffic jams during commutes to work and even short trips to the market. The Voltron EPAB is powered by an electric motor that can bring a 75kg person 45km without recharging. It produces zero carbon emissions with a recyclable lithium ion battery. It is roadworthy and safe to be used on pedestrian side walks so that the rider can avoid traffic jams. Thus, it solves both pains of congestion and pollution. Recognizing the changes that EPABS can bring, The Ministry of Finance has allocated RM 4,000,000 to provide university students with EPABs.
