Zander’s Garden By Steven E., Andrew S., Emily F., and MaddieM.
Our Mission • Our mission is to create a nature center or garden area in commemoration of Zander Stallone. • The garden should be a place where somebody can just take a book and find a nice and quiet place to sit down and read. • We want to incorporate nature, fun, and education all into one garden to remember Zander Stallone.
Commemorative Bench and Wishing Well • There is a space with two trees that are right next to each other. • We want to put a commemorative bench surrounding the two trees like the one above. • We also would like to put in a wishing well beside one of the gardens, which will be discussed later.
Stage • There will be an elevated platform that could be used as a stage for plays, or for a reading area. • Over the stage would be a canopy made out of twigs and braches. In the twigs and branches colorful flowers would be interwoven through the branches, so it would be bright, and block the sunlight. • On the stage, there could be a red rose painted on it to represent Zander’s love for nature and the color red.
Toy Shed • We want there to be a small shed or wooden house that would hold toys and balls for the kids to play with. • The toy shed would be a secure place to store the toys, as well as a way to make it feel like a real garden to the kids. • After speaking with the kids, they decided that the concept of a key to open it would be a fun idea. Therefore, we came up with a wind chime of keys, which would also be the holder for the key to open the shed.
Gardens and Water boats • We would like to make a goal of putting in as many gardens as we can. We have three gardens planned. The gardens would serve as an educational purpose and also so people could enjoy the beauty of gardens. • Our second idea was to put in a water boat track. The water boat track would serve as a useful play/learning area. A garden would be directly under it.
Stumps • Slipping and falling! • Tree stumps! • Coming out to recces the grass could be wet, a pathway of stumps can easily make it less slippery. • Around the stage there will also be a circle of stumps, so the student won’t have to sit on the grass.
Conclusion • The Garden will hopefully become part of the everyday life of the primary-schoolers, and will be the respectful memorial that Zander deserves.
