CIB In NEPAL • Established on 17 July 2010. • With motto Credibility, Impartiality and Bravery. • Objectives- - specialized investigation entity at central level - investigating crimes of national interest - investigation of organized transnational crime - to develop wide range of intelligence network - to develop specialized approach and professionalism.

Wildlife and Nepal • Nepal embarked upon modern era of Wildlife Conservation with the enactments of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (NPWC) Act in 2029(1973). • Established in 1980, Under Department of Forest. • Established DNPWC for Wildlife conservation with network • National Parks -10 • Wildlife Reserves - 3 • Conservation Reserve - 6 • Hunting Reserve and - 1 • Buffer Zone in and around Parks/Reserves - 12
Contd…. • Total Area of Nepal–1,47,181 sq.km. • Wildlife area covers 34,185.62 sq.km. (23.23% of total area of the country) • Nepal has 9 sites designated wetlands of International importance (Ramsar Site) covered 344.55 sq.km.
CIB - Wildlife Crime • Initially started wildlife crime investigation from its establishment. • Established a separate pillar. • Look After- • - Wildlife Trade • - Criminal Linkage and analysis • - Operation conduct and recommend to prosecute

Achievements of Cobra Operation Nepal • Total seized: Shartoosh wool – 1550 kgs. - Rhino horn – 1 nos. - Tiger skin, bones & canine teeth – 7 nos., 195 kgs. & 126 pieces - Pangolin – 1.8 kgs. - Red Panda skin – 1 nos. - Common leopard skin & bones – 1 nos. & 10kgs. - Red Sandalwood – 462.5 kgs. • Total arrested - 14
