  2. What Does it Mean toGrope For God? • Grope- ψηλαφάω lit. means “to manipulate, i.e. verify by contact” 4 Times in NT • “Touch, feel; feel around; feel after, handle.” • “Metaph. Mentally to seek after tokens of a person or a thing.” • Luke 24:39 “handle” • 1 John 1:1 “our hands have handled” • Hebrews 12:18 “touched” • Deuteronomy 4:11; Exodus 20:18-21; Deuteronomy 3:23-27

  3. What Does it Mean toGrope For God? • Contrast with Mt. Sinai where they had to move away-- • We can Come into the very Presence of God • Hebrews 12:22-24 “come to…the city of the living God” • Hebrews 10:19-22 “boldness to enter the Holiest…draw near…in full assurance of faith” • God Wants Us To Grope So As To Find Him!

  4. Why Does God Want us toGrope? • We Express Our Love for God Truly Seeking Him- Psalm 119:10 • Must Learn More About God- Matthew 11:29 • God Separates People According to Their True Desire – John 7:17

What Tools has God Given us? • His Creation to Investigate – Acts 17:24 • Romans 1:20 “understood by the things that are made” • Our Bodies and Intellect – Acts 17:28 • Psalm 139:13-18 • Moral Responsibility – Acts 17:27 • 2 Thessalonians 1:8,9 “vengeance on those who do not know God” • Acts 17:30,31,23-25

  6. Contrasted with those who live in the world without God- Ephesians 2:13 As a Christians I Have: Come to Know my God- Galatians 4:9 Set aside Ignorance through the knowledge of His will- Ephesians 5:17 Put off Old Man and Put On New Man- Ephesians 4:17-24

  7. In a World Where So Many Are Denying The Existence of God It is Still Possible to “Grope After Him,” and FIND HIM!
