Goals and Objectives • Teach kids about sequencing, chunking, the brain and memorization. • Apply to specific content (elements, ions and polyatomic ions). Chunking
For Starters… • Present sequencing and memory information. • Use sequencing, chunking, and grouping software lab to determine span.
Step 2 • Learn the elements through the natural “chunking” and grouping offered by the periodic table and hopefully developed by students.
Learning Elements • Provide flashcards to students. • Have students develop best way to chunk and introduce periodic table. • Put in topics of primacy, recency, chunking and practice.
Step 3 • Learn the ions names and symbols by chunking using associations with the periodic table.
