  2. Breaking a egg… Is it what it’s cracked up to be ?

  3. Purpose: The purpose of my project is to test whether or not a person can break an egg by squeezing it in the palm of their hand using their palm and fingers.

  4. Hypothesis: My hypothesis is that the egg will break due to the fact that an egg is so fragile.

  5. Materials: • An uncooked unpeeled egg • A camera • Some palms and some fingers

  12. Results: The egg did not break. Eggshells are considerably strong considering their weight. The spherical shape of the eggshell maximizes strength with a minimum of shell material.

  13. Conclusion: My hypothesis was incorrect. The egg did not break by wrapping a person fingers around the egg and squeezing it in the palm of their hand. The pressure was evenly distributed throughout the shell.
