  2. Keeping it Simple • How many things is each kid being asked to remember? • How many things does it look liketo the Offense? • Kids need to know which partsaffect them, and ignore the rest. • We became a 3-4 Defense without telling anyone.

  4. Defensive Line • Do not make the Defensive Line think. • Alignment is determined by the front, and the strength call • Linebackers are responsible for adjusting DL Alignment • Heavy Alignments, stress the Strike Point on the OL and defeating him first

Create New Fronts • We use Strength Calls to create new fronts and break tendency • Only the Sam Linebacker cares about the strength call (Tight, Split, Right, Left) – he sets the strength for everyone else. • Only front we call with multiple strength calls is OVER • Making the wrong strength call is not a big deal – we know how to align both ways

Linebacker Checks • The WILL Linebacker makes a “HEAVY” check any time he has a Tight End to his side • Moves the weak side End to a 7 technique • Moves the Nose to a 2i technique • Only applies to OVER Front • The SAM Linebacker makes a “7” check any time he has Trey Formation • Moves the Rush End to a 7 Technique, Sam splits #2 and #3 Receivers.

  18. Stack Front • Wanted to add in a 3-3 Stack front without confusing the kids • DL aligns head up. Ends go Out, Nose goes Strong in base call. (can TAG a slant or pinch) • Send one backer – Mike, Sam, or Rush • Other backers play Quarters Coverage • Change-Up Front, keep it simple!

  20. Blitz Partners & Patterns • Zone Blitzes use Partners & Patterns • Each Blitz call tags Partners to blitz to a certain spot – a Pattern • Ex. MaFia AA sends Mike & Free Safety to A Gaps. • Can X any pattern to cross gaps • Blitzes work with any Front • Have the ABILITY to call lots of different blitzes, but will still only use 1 to 3 Partner/Pattern combinations a week
