Summary, Future Work, and References High spectral resolution FTS measurements were used to infer cirrus cloud optical depth from both aircraft- and ground-based platforms, • demonstrated good agreement for similar measurements above (NAST-I and S-HIS) and below (AERI) cloud, • good correlation between ground-based AERI and Raman lidar, • rapid-sample AERI data greatly improves ability to resolve cloud features • same approach can be used to validate AIRS measurements from Aqua. First attempt at particle size retrieval was successful for two case studies (AFWEX 2000 and TX2002). DeSlover, D. H., W. L. Smith, P. K. Piironen, and E. W.
