Exchange email conversation with Chris Justice to add Thailand into VIIRS Fire Products calibration as we have been using MODIS Fire Products from FIRMS for daily fire control management since late 2006. He sent message to Ivan Csiszar, Wilfrid Schroeder, Evan Ellicott, Louis Giglio on 26 Jan 2012 as “……Yes validation in Thailand would be a good thing in the framework of GOFC GOLD. Thanks C” And No Reply Yet!
In conclusion It seems that VIIRS has the same problems as both MODIS have. We will have to use VIIRS fire products for Forest Fire Control Management in Thailand as we already use the MODIS Fire Products daily (when it begins to feed into FIRMS). Hopefully the Principle Investigators of VIIRS Fire Products will include Thailand as one of their calibration sites.
