England and Wales Cricket Board • National Governing Body for England and Wales. • Vision – “to become and remaining the most successful and respected cricket nation in the world” • Assumes all responsibility for England, 18 First Class Counties (FCC’s) and 20 Non First Class Counties (NFCC’s) • Employs 130 staff on four sites. • Admin HQ at Lord’s. • Income of £61.4m for 2005 – 83% from broadcasting rights. • After satisfying centralised overheards, all profits are distributed among the FCC and NFCC’s ECB Presentation Template - 24.1.05 Page 4
Evolving the National Cricket Centre, Loughborough • The centre took over a decade to plan. • 46 weeks to build. • Was opened in September 2002 at a cost of £4.6m. • It was designed to be the centre of cricket for all England groups. • ‘National Academy’ is a programme, like England Senior side would have leading up to a tour. • The name from the start did not represent what the centre did. • Now called the National Cricket Centre, supporting the technical, tactical, mental, physical and lifestyle development through a range of specifically tailored activities for each England Group.
