  3. God Searches for a Heart... • 1 Kings 19:9-14 • Lord asks Elijah twice why he was there • Elijah responded by focusing on himself, troubles • God not in the great wind, earthquake, fire...in the gentle wind

  4. God Searches for a Heart... • 1 Kings 19:15-21 • Lord tells Elijah to go to wilderness of Damascus... • Hazael king over Aram • Jehu king over Israel • Elisha as prophet in his place • Elijah did as instructed

  5. God Searches for a Heart... • 1 Kings 20:1-12, Ben-hadad and Ahab • Ben-hadad and 32 other kings besiege Samaria • Demanded silver, gold, beautiful wives, children • Ahab agreed initially... • Ben-hadad then demanded whatever he wanted...Ahab sought elders...said no!

  8. God Searches for a Heart... • 1 Kings 20:23-27, the Arameans • Ben-hadad counseled by servants • fight on plains due to Israel’s “mountain gods” • remove the 32 kings • replace army

  15. God Searches for a Heart... • 1 Kings 21:17-29 • Elijah told Ahab he would die in the same place where Naboth did • Jezebel’s end foretold...eaten by dogs • Ahab humbled himself! • Lord saw...would not bring judgment in Ahab’s lifetime.
