The Toolbox An educator’s toolbox that is made up of a mix of those that publish, those that manage information, and those that share common content
Weblogs (Blogs) • A website where entries are made in journal style and posted in reverse chronological order • Easily created, easily updateable and allows an author to publish instantly to the internet • They can be interactive, allowing teachers and students to communicate. JISD example – Diane Pace’s eBoard
Wiki • A collaborative Webspace where anyone can add content and anyone can edit content that has already been published. • In some schools, teachers and students use password-protected wikis to create their own resource sites.
RSSReal Simple Syndication • A technology that allows educators to subscribe to “feeds” of the content that is created on the Internet. • Content comes to the reader instead of the reader retrieving the content
Social Bookmarking • Allows readers to save and archive entire pages • Available from any internet based computer unlike the traditional bookmarking or favorite option on the browser
Online Photo Galleries • Publishing digital photos to the web • Can create a community of photographers sharing ideas and experiences.
Audio/video-casting • Publish and produce digital voice and video files to Internet audiences
