IGI in the biggest European Grid Infrastructure EGI EGI.eu is the organization committed to create and maintain a pan-European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) in collaboration with National Grid Initiatives (NGIs) and European International Research Organisations (EIROs), to guarantee the long-term availability of a generic e-infrastructure for all European research communities and their international collaborators. www.egi.eu - www.italiangrid.org Its mission is to enable access to computing resources for European researchers from all fields of science and provide European scientists and their international partners with a sustainable, reliable e-infrastructure that can support their needs for large-scale data analysis. EGI-InSPIRE is a collaborative effort involving 50 partners in 37 countries. The role of NGIs National Grid Initiatives or Infrastructures (NGIs) are organisations set up by individual countries to manage the computing resources they provide to the European Grid Infrastructure (EGI). NGIs and EIROs are EGI’s main stakeholders. Each NGI contributes a number of sites to the grid infrastructure and is responsible for the maintenance and running of the sites they operate. IGI in EGI IGI is the Italian NGI and contributes to the European Infrastructure with: • 58 sites • 25000 cores • 8000 CPU • 28 PB Disk Storage • 5 PB of Tape Storage
