Overview • I typically receive about 100 emails a week from my family, and the content ranges from the benign and useless “I feel like popcorn.” to the deep and meaningful “I was diagnosed with cancer…” There is a history and a family story that unfolds across these messages, but unfortunately they are all lost to the 30-40 email clients we all use to create, read, and store the information. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could capture these stories online and share them for our future generations. • I have friends who send email too. These tend to be like small little communities, some with really close friends, some with work acquaintances, etc. These are less frequent and weave less of a story, but can be more sensational, and generally are a little too ‘real’ to be part of the family circle (have you ever accidentally replied to a friends email about their boob job or whatever, and sent it to conservative Uncle Fred, the preacher? Oops.) Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to maintain the separation in your digital communities the same way we can in our real communities? • We all have news, er nooz, that we think is important. Whether it is our promotions, our births, something we witnessed on the side of the road, etc., we all have stories to tell. We also love to hear other people’s stories. Wouldn’t it be great if we had an easy way to tell our stories to people who would be interested, and a way to hear stories from people who share our interests, hobbies, political views, etc? • So these are some of the basic principles behind nooztome.com Think of it as community targeted, socially tagged blogging. Distribution lists become communities, emails become stories.
