  3. Enhancing Carolina’s eRA • Must improve Research Admin • Must do more with less • Greater efficiency • Faster response time • Greater coordination between offices • Lower the barriers for investigators/students to do Research • Maintain highest levels of compliance

  4. Enhancing Carolina’s eRA • In the Past…. • Research offices had no way to interact electronically • Significant lack of coordination • Many processes were manual and/or paper-based • Very slow (and frustrating)….

  5. Enhancing Carolina’s eRA • ORIS: Office of Research Information Systems • Created in 2005 • Mission • Analyze/Streamline Business Processes • Design/Implement Tools • Create a unified Business Process for RA • Overall: Improve Research Admin

  6. Enhancing Carolina’s eRA • Now and in the future…. • More centralized approach to RA • Unified Business Processes • Electronic Workflow and Processing • Greater Accessibility • Leverage Data for Business Intelligence and Marketing
