  1. DRT Focus –2008-09 Moving from Reflection to Resilience All teachers will improve their knowledge base of culturally responsive teaching. A Goal 2 focus

Beyond Blame, Bureaucracy & Baloney---Tasks Completed • DRTs created an action plan for the year, August • DRTs adopted a Smart Goal, September • DRTs planned a Professional Development Workshop on Culturally Responsive Teaching, September • A division inventory completed and posted and an expectation that each school conduct an inventory of available resources on diversity. • Identified, described and posted Holidays of different ethnic groups. • DRTs approved a survey to gauge the division and schools’ foundation knowledge and use CRT practices. • DRTs have reviewed literature on CRT practices, Geneva Gay, Bonnie Davis and others—monthly meetings to discuss implementation strategies of the research and best practices.

  3. Principal’s Check List • I have reviewed the DRT Job Description. • I have met with the DRT and discussed his/her smart goal. • I have worked with the DRT pre-survey. Survey has three broad categories. • Teachers’ knowledge of various cultures -- questions a - d • Rigor and relevance of multicultural instruction--questions e – i • Building relationships with all students and families--j – n • I have planned or will plan opportunities for the DRT to present on-going intervention strategies on Culturally Responsive Teaching to my staff. • I have reviewed/will review my school’s pre-survey results and will ensure that the DRT’s smart goal intervention strategies are connected to the survey. • I will consider strategies for expanding the CRT smart goal for next year.

  4. Beyond Blame, Bureaucracy & Baloney---Tasks to be Completed • DRTs to develop/adopt a division model of CRT practices. • DRT to practice/model CRT strategies. • DRT will analyze pre-survey data. • DRT will introduce CRT intervention strategies to the school. • DRT will analyze post-survey data. • DRT and evaluate smart goal with principal and plan follow up steps.
