The Ministry of Finance of Colombia and GIFT October 2018
The Ministry of Finance of Colombia and GIFT • GIFT officials visited our country in mid 2017 and the vision of our Transparency Portal radically changed. • We learned as a team that all of the other good transparency initiatives in the region had the umbrella of GIFT and we easily started talking with our pairs in other countries • Through the workshops we learned a lot about standards and other projects not only in America but in all the world • We were accepted as a GIFT member this year 2018 and transformed our interaction with our citizens www.pte.gov.co
Reaching out to the public with technology • With the support of GIFT, Colombia started a real contact with the citizens through events like rallies and hackatons all through open data • Also with the support of IBP, we have developed an alliance with organized civil society for debates and workshops on budget literacy
Motivating citizens on budgets • Rally Datosenlacalle with simultaneous events in Mexico (original idea) and Chile • Hackaton Alimendata for the improvement of the Schools Food Program in Colombia • Various debates and workshops on Budget and Transparency with unievrsities, civil society, media and control institutions.
The Ministry's gift to GIFT • We will be comitted in the effort of adopting the OSDP before the end of this year. • Our government is willing to sign a decree for the annual organisation of events like rallies and/or hackatons • Also the alliance with IBP, we are determined to improve our grades in the OBS ranking. • We are including a transparency chapter in our 4-year National Development Plan
