  1. Getting Started with PowerPoint Start Menu • Microsoft Office • PowerPoint Click to Create a Blank Presentation

  2. Use Blank Slides *Of course you may choose to use a template design. However, templates can cause problems when you try to animation pictures (they may not animate correctly.) *I strongly suggest using blank slides and creating your own items (text and images)

  3. Remember: • Create text boxes to write • Formatting is just like using Word • Highlight the text first • Choose formatting

  4. Creating New Slides On the Tool Bar • Click the New Slide Button On the Menu Bar • Click on Insert • Click on New Slide

  5. Slide View Slide View • Displays a single slide on screen Slide Sorter View • Displays all slides in order – small thumbnails Slide Show View • Use this view to run the presentation Outline View • Displays presentation text in outline format

  6. Add Clip Art Insert Menu on the Menu Bar • Picture • Clipart • Find the image of your choice Picture you have downloaded • Picture • From File • Your Folder

  7. Format Clip Art • Click on image to get editing boxes around the image • Now you can resize and/or move

  8. Download Image from Internet • Right click on the image • Save Picture As • Save it to your folder on the network

  9. Download Sound or VideoFrom Internet • Find video or sound • Right click on link to video or sound • Click on Save Target As • Save to your folder on the network

  10. Insert Video or Sound Make sure you have downloaded a sound or video clip • Insert Menu • Movies and Sound • Movie from File or Sound from File • Retrieve the file from your folder on the network

  11. Move Slides in Sorter • Left click on hold on the slide to be moved • Move to new location and release the mouse click

  12. Deleting Slides In the Slide Sorter • Click the slide to delete so it is highlighted • Click Edit on the Menu Bar • Drag to delete slide Or • Click the slide to delete so it is highlighted • Use the Delete button on the keyboard

  13. Formatting BackgroundDesign of Slides Format on the menu bar • Drag to Apply Design • Choose a design from the list Tool Bar • Click the Apply Design Template button

  14. Slide Animation *This is animation within the individual slides Slide Show Menu • Custom Animation Toolbar • Click the Yellow Star (Animation Effects)

  15. Animation Reminders • Need to choose an order for animation • Need to choose “automatic” or “on mouse click” • Song – Need to continue the slide show • Can choose number of slide for song

  16. Slide Transition This provides an animated transition rather than just switching from slide to slide Slide Show Menu • Click Slide Transitions Note: • Can have all slides transition the same or set each slide to animate differently

  17. Video Clips Video can be capture at United Streaming You will need to set up an account for yourself Use this access code to do so: A0D7-D214 http://www.unitedstreaming.com

  18. Editing Video Clips • Showbiz can be used to trim the front and back ends of the video you download

  19. Sound Clips • Sound can be downloaded from AP Archives http://ap.accuweather.com
