  4. CRUZANPATHWAY Pathway Benefits Health • The U.S. Surgeon General has declared obesity to be an epidemic. The rise in cardiovascular disease, hypertension and diabetes are linked to a decrease in physical activity. The Center for Disease Control has concluded that there is a direct correlation between trail development and increased physical activity. The benefits to the residents of St. Croix will be immediate. Safety • The lack of shoulders along the roads in St. Croix significantly reduces their recreational potential. Or more directly - the roads in St. Croix are very dangerous for non-vehicular traffic. Tourism • The St.Croix pathway holds enormous promise to become a signature feature for the island. The pathway will significantly increase St. Croix’s appeal as a family oriented, eco-friendly destination. A Project Of Cruzan Bikeways
