  8. Do old people have sex? • The answer is yes! Studies have shown that sexual activity does not automatically decline with age. Life Expantancy Women tend to live longer by 4 years. Avg. age is 75.

Attitudes Toward Aging • Decremental model of aging –which holds that progressive physical and mental decline is inevitable with age. • Ageism – prejudice against the old. • One misconception is that older people are in inflexible or senile. • Young people believe the aged withdraw from life and sit around doing nothing…

  16. Do old people get stupid? • Cross-sectional studies show decline. • Longitudinal Studies show consistency. What is the difference?   19. Dying and Death • Elizabeth Kubler Ross studied Thantology. Thantologyis the study of death and dying. She came up with the 5 Stages of Death. This is 5 stages someone might go through when confronted with death. • 1. denial • 2. anger • 3. bargaining • 4. depression • 5. acceptance

  21. Hospice • Hospice is a special place where the terminally ill people go to die. The hospice is designed to look less like a hospital. Dr.’s do not prolong life. There is also hospice that goes out and services people in their home.
