Lesson Five: Viewing Order Information from the Orders Tab • At the end of this lesson you will be able to: • View order information • Access details regarding specific orders • Filter orders for a given time period • View and print preps • Obtain the most updated view of order information
Viewing Order Information from the Orders Tab • Order information can be viewed by selecting the Orders Tab in the patient’s chart. • There are two main sections of the Orders tab. • The Clinical Categories Navigator • Lists clinical categories • The Existing Orders Profile • Provides access to all patient order information • Views can be filtered to meet viewer preferences and needs according to categories, statuses and date range.
Orders Tab Sections • Select from the Navigator the clinical categories you want to see displayed in the Orders Profile. • The selected categories of orders and their details are displayed in the Existing Orders Profile. Clinical Categories Navigator Existing Orders Profile
Orders Tab • You can collapse the Navigator to expand the Orders Profile by clicking on the backward facing triangle. • Click on the forward facing triangle to bring the Navigator back into view.
Filtering Orders • You can determine the columns to display in your Orders Profile by clicking on Current and then Customize View. • Select Add or Remove from the Available Columns or Selected Columns. • You can also Group and Sort orders by making selections from the drop down boxes.
Filtering Orders • Filter options are available directly from the Existing Orders Profile. • Clicking on these options will open the advanced filter profile
Filtering Orders • Once the Advanced Filters window is opened you can create a custom filters to display in the Existing Orders Profile window.
Filtering Orders • Click on New to create your own personal filters. • Name them in the display box. • Click Apply for this PowerChart session only, or Save for future PowerChart sessions.
Viewing Detailed Order Information • To view detailed information regarding specific orders • Right click the order and select the Order Info option
The Order Info Window Order Info Window • Details – Displays the current details for the order. • Additional Info – Displays order name, start time, stop time, order ID# and department status. • History – Displays each action taken on an order in reverse chronological order. • Comments – Displays any order comments associated with the order. • Results – Displays results for an order. You can Exit the Order Info Window by clicking on the X in the upper right corner, by selecting Exit from the Task Menu or by clicking on the Exit icon.
Another Method to View Detailed Order Information • Click on the Order Name on the Orders Profile. • The Order Information window opens. • To disable this option, right click on the order and select “disable order information hyperlink”.
What are some other Right Click Options? • Click Results to be taken directly to any results associated with the order. • Click ReferenceInformation to view and print any preps or instructions that may be associated with the order. • Click Print to print any documents that are available.
How Do I Know I am Viewing the Most Up-To-Date Information? • Always be sure to click on the Refresh button to refresh the view and be sure you are looking at the most current information.
Lesson Five Review • Order information can be viewed from the Orders tab on the patient chart. • There are two sections to the Orders tab, the Clinical Categories Navigator and the Existing Orders Profile. • Views can be filtered to meet individual preferences. • Detailed order information can be accessed by right clicking on the desired order and selecting View Order info to open the Order Info window. • Preps can be viewed and printed by right clicking on the desired order and selecting Reference Information. • Click on the Refresh button on the tool bar to make sure you are viewing the most current information.
