  6. Anatomy of the nose for rhinoplasty surgery The nose is the organ animals and humans use for smell. It is also the organ that brings air into the lungs. There are two parts to the nose. The external nose, that we see, has bulbous long skin, and the internal nose which has many blood vessels and nerves. The top of the nose connects to the forehead and sticks out in the center of the face as explained above. The nostrils of the nose are separated by the septum or "columna". The nose is composed of bones and cartilage. Cartilage moves with different muscles of the face.

  7. Sinus Surgery/ Endoscopic sinus surgery Endoscopic sinus surgery is a non-invasive surgical procedure that addresses chronic sinus disease with the use of the endoscope. This treatment allows the surgeon to examine and remove blockages in  the sinuses.  This procedure is commonly used in patients with chronic sinusitis, deviated septums or in patients with tumors or polyps. By restoring the normal function of the sinuses, mucus is able to drain properly and air flow is increased, improving breathing. As a result of this procedure patients can expect an 80-90% improvement from facial pain caused by nasal blockage and many will regain their sense of smell or taste.

  8. Septoplasty surgery and treatment information Septoplasty is a common procedure that is performed for individuals who have a “deviated septum” that can result from trauma or can naturally occur during the growth process of the nasal cartilages. Nasal breathing disorders can be caused by several different factors: 1. Deviated septum.2. Internal or external nasal valve compromise.3. Allergy and sinus disease.
